Patterns of Ireland

Throughout our shared history, folk art has reflected the lives we lead, seeking to find their meaning and celebrate the events which mark them. Folk art also finds the point where utility meets beauty, marrying form and function. These patterns come from the Irish folk art traditions of knitting and basketry, both of which weave together separate strands into a meaningful and satisfying whole and become the useful and beautiful fabrics of our daily lives. In addition to making sweaters or baskets, these patterns also symbolically portray love, sharing and our interconnectedness.

Original designs by Adam Grabski based on Aran knitwear and Irish basketry.
